Alighting the Erasmus+ Express with SCEP’s Hints and Tips

A contribution that had many delegates scribbling down notes was Hints and Tips for Managing success in Erasmus+.

Why, because Dugald Craig’s (Chief Executive of Colleges Partnership http://www.scep.ac.uk) presentation was full of very good practical advice, gained from Dugald’s experience, some of which was in Brussels, managing the predecessor programme to Erasmus+. To the surprise of many Dugald told the Conference that a successful application was the easy part compared to holding on to the grant awarded for the transnational activity! Luckily he didn’t leave it there and went on to offer lots of helpful hints including:

– read the contract
– read the Project & Financial Management Handbook
– use partnership agreements
– take minutes of meetings
– know the rules
– keep in touch with the National Agency.

On CDN’s travels around the country we have spoken to colleges that have Erasmus+ activity. Highlighted in the conversations is the crucial need for organisations who are underataking Erasmus+ to be well organised and appropriately resourced. One such example of good practice is New College Lanarkshire, which is a founding member of Colleges Partnership, and where over 300 students will participate in an Erasmus+ international opportunity over this next academic year.
