Thanks to the hundreds of attendees and participants who made the two days of College Expo 21 such an incredible success!

The virtual conference and showcase took place on Wednesday 9 and Thursday 10 June, and featured 107 speakers and panellists –  more than ever before. This year’s theme was: ‘Press the reset button: Reimagining college learning and life’.

Day 1 of College Expo 21 was officially opened by CDN Chief Executive Jim Metcalfe. Jim was followed by Jamie Hepburn, the new Minister for Higher Education and Further Education, Youth Employment and Training.

Mr Hepburn announced Edinburgh College lecturer Helena Good as the fifth person to be inducted into the CDN College Hall of Fame. Helena then provided an inspiring keynote speech live in the event studio. Day 1 sessions included ‘Supporting Mental Health’, ‘Creating the College of the Future’ and ‘Professional Learning’.

Day 2 of College Expo 21 opened with an inspiring conversation with CDN’s own Sandy MacLean, Lead of Curriculum and Teaching, and her cousins – the world-record breaking MacLean Brothers, who rowed the Atlantic Ocean in just 35 days!

Over in the Skills Arena, there was quite literally all to play for as Forth Valley College, “the best college team in Scotland” took on “the best school team” Alva Academy in the Esports Live! Rocket League Competition.

We marked the life of Kevin Murphy, former Director of Curriculum & Attainment at Dundee and Angus College, by posthumously inducting him into the CDN College Hall of Fame.

Day 2 sessions included ‘Institutional Approaches to Curriculum Design’, ‘Developing Student Digital Skills’ and the ‘Teaching in Colleges Today Qualification’.

Did you miss the event or want to catch up on any sessions? The College Expo 21 conference platform is now open so you can revisit the event!

Day 1 recordings are now available – Day 2 coming soon!
