CDN, in partnership with SQA will be holding a series of webinars for college staff designed to support understanding of assessment within National Qualification Courses and Units and good practice in assessment.
The first webinar of the series will provide college staff with an update on key policy updates and latest SQA guidance on assessment practice, remediation and re assessment to assist colleges involved in the delivery and assessment of National Qualifications in session 2017/18.

09 May – Using Enabling Technology with STEM Students with Learning Differences and Disabilities (32.02)
Science, technology, engineering and maths present a distinct set of accessibility challenges.
In this session, we will explore the barriers faced by students with learning differences and disabilities in STEM disciplines and consider how technologies can help. We will look at technology support for reading, writing and organisation in maths and science learning including mobile apps and technologies to assist lab, field and workplace learning.

02 May – Open Source and Free Technologies to Support Study Skills (24:10)
In this webinar recording we investigate the difference between open source and free technologies that can support study skills and explore examples that cross the boundaries of mobile, desktop and the web. 25 April – Gender Equality in Early Learning and Childcare (28:42)
This webinar recording reviews the causes and consequences of gender stereotyping and explore ways we can prevent it from limiting our children’s future. In this recording we will examine the impact of gender stereotypes on children’s development & adult’s life chances, the scientific basis for gender differences in socialisation and the options to reduce gender inequality within early years’ classrooms and nursery schools.

25 April – Accessible Course Materials (23:00)
Course materials are core to the learning experience. To create an inclusive learning experience, materials need to be as accessible as possible. In this session we will start with a basic Word document and build in accessibility features, demonstrating how it can be used to support a variety of learners, with the same techniques being transferable into other applications such as PowerPoint.

In April 2017, the majority of colleges are required to publish information on their gender pay gap and provide an equal pay statement containing information on occupational segregation and their equal pay policy. This  session will consider what colleges have learned from their 2013 and 2015 reporting cycles, with a view to understanding the lessons that can be learned from previous pay reporting and equal pay statements to extend reporting to disability and race.
