HM Inspector of Education – Education Scotland
Karen graduated from Glasgow School of Art and worked in the design industry before entering the world of education. She joined the college sector in 1986, initially leading art and design provision, before moving onto a series of cross-college roles involving liaison with schools, local authorities and CLD. She undertook a range of Assistant Principal and Strategic Director roles for 10 years, before joining HMIE in 2003. Within HMIE and Education Scotland, Karen has led various national tasks and liaises with national bodies in developing and enhancing Post 16 provision in Scotland.
