Student Funding

Purpose of the Network

The Student Funding Network brings together staff from Scotland’s colleges involved in the planning, administration and delivery of student support funding. It provides a supportive, solution focused space to share practice, discuss emerging policy and operational changes, and identify practical improvements to processes and systems. The Network also offers a collective forum to raise sector issues and provide feedback to national partners such as the Scottish Government, SFC and Student Awards Agency Scotland (SAAS).

Focus of This Session/Current Priorities
  • Sharing updates on student funding and related benefits.

  • Monitoring the transition of further education student support and EMA administration from SFC to SAAS, and sharing questions, risks and practical implications for colleges.

  • Sharing approaches to the distribution of funds, including timelines, entitlements and communications.

  • Comparing college approaches to application timelines, evidence gathering and student engagement to reduce delays and hardship.

  • Exchanging learning on student funding systems and process change.
