Purpose of Network
The Community-Based Learning Network is a collaborative and supportive network of community-based learning practitioners, supporting college staff delivering learning outwith the main campuses. This could include e.g. in community centres, youth services, prisons; and also includes partnerships with community support organisations which bring learners into main campuses.
The Network has been involved in the development of the Draft Adult Learning Strategy for Scotland and will be a key player in its implementation across the sector.
Focus of the network this session
- To discuss issues and concerns and seek solutions where appropriate
- Share good practices and innovation across the group and providing general support
- Seek new opportunities and support the development of these with colleges where appropriate.
- Discuss the implications of policy on the delivery of the community based learning.
Who may wish to attend this network
College staff who have responsibility for managing or delivering community based learning, and external partners who work collaboratively with colleges in community based delivery.
External partnerships
The Network includes colleagues from across relevant partner organisations including the CLD Standards Council, Education Scotland, Scottish Government, Scotland’s Learning Partnership, Learning Link Scotland, and others.
