As part of the Student Support Review, a survey has been launched to understand how effective the current system of financial support is for all further and higher education students in Scotland. The aim is to capture the views of students via a YouGov survey. We would encourage you to share this survey with your students. The survey closes on Monday 6 March 2017.
A suite of resources have been developed to contribute to professional learning for practitioners at all levels working with children and young people from 3-18. They are structured to both inform and to support reflection on existing strengths and areas of development around career education.
Although this guide has been produced for higher education providers in England, it provides general information on relevant equality and human rights requirements and guidelines to help Prevent leads use these in practice to inform their work.
Universities Scotland and the Scottish Refugee Council have produced guidance on access to higher education for asylum seekers and refugees covering rights and entitlements, admissions and immigration status.
In addition, the Scottish Funding Council has a leaflet on funding support for asylum seekers in further and higher education.
New College Lanarkshire has developed a Career Finder Tool to help students get career recommendations based on their interests. By answering questions using a sliding scale learners are advised on their three most prominent traits from:- investigative, conventional, realistic, social, artistic and enterprising. They are then matched with a range of professional, qualifications and salary levels.
Dundee and Angus College has launched Future Talent on their website to provide help, guidance and information to their students on progressing their careers. The site contains a number of resources such as:

The Environmental Association for Universities and Colleges ( EAUC) -Scotland Office, as part of their 2014-17 programme, identified the need across the UK for written guidance to help anyone looking for or advising on careers in sustainability. Through extensive research in both universities and colleges, and in collaboration with career support organisations, feedback suggested that Advisors were in need of online resources which they could use to learn more about these types of careers, which could also be made accessible to students looking to pursue a career in the sector. Guides have been developed to cover a variety of topics, helping support both advisors and students through the careers journey with some top tips and plenty of links to resources along the way.
They are running a webinar on 9 March from 1200-1300 on Understanding Sustainability Jobs. This webinar is open to students, student advisors, career advisors, teaching staff.
