CDN proudly hosts the Colleges Action Inquiry Research Network (CAIRN) Journal, a significant voice in scholarship across the Scottish college sector.

We are pleased to announce that Issue 5 of CAIRN published in June 2026, is now available to explore online.

The journal provides a platform for sharing innovation, knowledge, and critical insights from active college-based researchers. Each issue features research articles, personal reflections, book reviews, and short narrative pieces that showcase innovative practices enhancing teaching and learning.

Our aim is to create a practitioner-focused publication that advances scholarship and fosters meaningful knowledge exchange. Our audience includes educators, researchers, leaders, developers, managers, and evaluators across the sector.

The CAIRN editorial board welcomes submissions from across the college sector. Draft proposals for Issue 6 (December 2026) are due by 9 October 2026.
