Choose College

CDN are supporting the new national #ChooseCollege campaign to highlight the importance of Scotland’s colleges and encourage potential students to – Choose College.

Scotland’s 26 colleges have come together with one voice to support the new campaign and share positive stories of how vital colleges are to the educational, economic and community health of the country. Colleges will also show how they support industry to upskill and retrain their workers.

Organised by the CDN Marketing and Communications Network, the six-week campaign follows on from the success of #LoveScotlandsColleges in November 2020.

Choose College, the collaborative six-week social media campaign launches on Monday 8 March, running until Friday 16 April.

The campaign is supported by promotional videos, images, key facts and case studies. We encourage colleges and partners to use the Choose College marketing toolkit and share their stories on social media using #ChooseCollege. The toolkit can be downloaded on the CDN Marketing and Communications Network Teams page here. Each week will focus on a different key theme.

The key themes are:

W/C 8 March – Choose to Upskill

  • Focus on Business Development short courses.
  • International Women’s Day on 8 March – opportunity to promote inspirational stories about students/staff or other stakeholder.
  • Key Stat: Colleges support industry, large and small, to upskill and retrain their workers.

W/C 15 March – Choose to Retrain

  • As 44% of students are over 25 our focus this week will be on this demographic with never too late to learn messages.
  • Key Stat: Almost half of college students are over 25.

W/C 22 March – Choose to do Something Different

  • Share some quirky stories or highlight your more unique/unusual courses that people just wouldn’t expect to see in a college.
  • Key Stat: Colleges deliver over 70 million hours of learning to nearly 265,000 students.

W/C 29 March – Choose a Degree

  • Focus on pathways to university or promoting any degree courses you offer.
  • Key Stat: 42% of all university students began their journey at college.

W/C 5 April – Choose a Career

  • Showcase how colleges are the best places to start your career as 95% move onto jobs or university after leaving college.
  • Promote the wide variety of careers on offer at colleges.
  • Key Stat: 95% of college graduates move on to jobs or university.

W/C 12 April – Choose an Apprenticeship

  • Share local stories and case studies of apprentices.
  • Key Stat: Colleges deliver over 10,000 Apprenticeships.

Over the six-week social media campaign, please do post, share and shout out about how great Scotland’s colleges are! The toolkit provides plenty of materials – please feel free to use alongside your own stories and images. To encourage further social engagement we have created two themed days:

  • Thursday’s ‘What’s Your View…, linking to that week’s key theme, e.g. Apprenticeship, tag other colleges and stakeholders and let’s get the conversation going!
  • Tuesday’s ‘Good News Tuesday’ shout out about your good news stories
