Who it’s for

The Executive Leadership Series has been developed to support college colleagues who currently fulfil executive roles, as well as those looking to work at executive level in the future. The series is an opportunity for aspiring senior leaders to build their skills and network, with the option to select different workshops; it offers executive leaders the chance to upskill in specific areas and to work collaboratively with others.

How it works

Developed and hosted by one of CDN’s Delivery and Engagement Partner Valerie Jackman, the series supports participants to build their skills and network, with the option to attend specific workshops or follow the whole series. The ten workshops are designed to offer choice and flexibility. We offer face-to-face sessions at Stirling Court Hotel, with the exception of two workshops which are held at Tulliallan Police College in Fife.

Purpose of the series

Through the pandemic colleges collaborated far more frequently than they had previously. This has resulted in a systems approach to the challenges faced by colleges: more co-operation, more support, and a collective voice. This programme builds on that experience, and its design is rooted in systems thinking. It will help to deepen understanding of the wider context in which we are working, and support us in applying systems-thinking and systems-leadership models and approaches. This also chimes with the Cumberford-Little Report, which emphasises the importance of systems thinking and systems leadership.

Testimonials:

Hear from some of our wonderful 2023/2024 graduates who thoroughly enjoyed this programme:

Lee Lappin, Director of Curriculum and Partnerships, Dundee and Angus College:

The I received glowing feedback from a colleague who took the course last year, and I’ve been equally impressed. It’s been a delightful mix of hands-on learning and thought-provoking content. The course created a trusted space for sharing experiences and stepping out of our comfort zones.

Angela Pignatelli, Vice Principal Learning, Teaching and Student Experience, South Lanarkshire College:

The Executive Leadership Series provides valuable time with leaders who excel in their field, offering new insights, knowledge exchange and discussion to help participants grow and thrive. I would have no hesitation in recommending this development as it is both visionary but with practical application.
